This is Amanda Michels and her fiancee Jackson Brindley.
We’ve got an exciting new project from Amanda and we need your help! Amanda and Jackson got engaged over the winter and sent out therir wedding invitations. When she wanted to get it framed, we talked her into letting you guys participate! Over the next couple weeks, we’re going to walk through the design process and show some options for getting Amanda’s invitation framed. Then you’ll vote and Amanda will just have to love whatever you pick!
But we asked Amanda to share a little background with us. Here’s what she had to say:
Jackson and I have known each other since we were both really little. We went to the same grade school from kindergarten through eighth grade, and then to the same high school. Our families even go to the same church. Jackson is 5 years older than me so we never talked in grade school. When I was in high school we did chat a little over the internet and Jackson came over to our house a few times and we just sat in my drive way and talked. My dad “did yard work” nearby until Jackson would leave, which sometimes wasn’t until 10 pm! We never dated back then since there’s no way I would have ever been allowed dating someone that much older! I’m honestly surprised my dad let him come over at all!
Then a few years ago he sent me a message on Facebook. After 3 days of non stop talking he convinced me to go on a date with him. Our first date was a trip to Olive Garden and to watch the movie Water for Elephants.
Then in October, he took me to Nassau, Bahamas for my 30th Birthday. We went right after hurricane Matthew, so there was a lot of stuff washing up on the beach. I kept finding and collecting intact clam shells but I really wanted to find one with a pearl in it. The day he proposed, he put my ring in one of the clam shells I found earlier and stuck it in his pocket. We walked to the pier and he bent down and pretended that he found another clam shell. He shook it and said “Oh, look, there’s something in this one!” He held it up to my ear and shook it. I was so excited that I grabbed it from him and ripped it open so I could find my pearl. I even broke the shell! But instead of a pearl, it was my ring! It caught me completely off guard! Obviously, I said yes! As we were walking back to our resort we noticed there was a double rainbow over us and the pier where he proposed. And the end of the rainbow was on an island named Honeymoon Island! We are getting married at St Mary’s this summer.
