Weddings are a little different today. Seems like it used to be that most weddings you went to were two young people, maybe fresh out of school or college, maybe leaving their roommates or their parents’ houses and starting a new life together. Of course, that still happens, but often we see weddings between two people in their late twenties or thirties, both already having successful careers and apartments. Now, whenever people want to get married is fine by us, but the first couple is really in need of a set of pots and pans, some queen sized bed sheets and maybe an full set of silverware. You know, the traditional stuff people have been registering for for years. But we see a lot of weddings now where they already have those basics. So when you give someone their first crock pot, it might mean the world to them, but how do you give an established couple that same feeling? Ah, we’ve got a few ideas!
A Signature Mat
Most weddings have a guest registry, usually in book form, where guest sign in and the new couple gets to remember who shared the day with them. This is a step up from those guest books. We start with a picture of the couple and pair it with a nice, wide mat. Then we frame the both up in a custom frame but without the glass. Then on the wedding day, it’s set out and the guests write their name and well wishes right on the mat. After the wedding, drop it back off at the shop and we’ll either leave the original picture there, or we can swap it out for a wedding picture. Then we’ll add the glass back on top and it’s a keepsake for life. Obviously, this is a gift best offered before the wedding, either in finished form or as a “let’s go in and pick it out and I’ll cover the cost” kind of a gift.
A Shadow Box
So, admittedly, we’re a little taken with these. We’ve been working with some suppliers and our in-house design team to come up with some affordable, but still visually stunning and high-quality shadow boxes. We’ve got some ready to go and some that we can customize for you. But one thing we can tell you is that they’ll remember who gave them one of these.
A Framed Wedding Invitation
Here’s super meaningful and personalized way to help the couple remember their special day. Bring in their wedding invitation and some pictures of the couple and we can take care of the rest. We’ll make a keepsake either in framed form or in shadow box form that’s unique to them and stands the test of time.
Artwork For Their Shared Home
Once we’ve got all the toasters and wineglasses we need, we naturally want to move on to beautifying our area. We have a nice selection of art here at the shop, both decorative and/or practical. Besides some nice wall art and amazing blown glass creations, we have things like this beautiful and usable pottery bowl from Campbell Pottery.
Gift Certificates for Their Wedding Pictures
If nothing else has tickled your fancy yet, help them take care of their wedding photos after the wedding. Once the photographer has finished their work, the new couple will be left some digital images and print-outs. You can turn those into centerpieces in their new home. They can use their McDonald Niklaus gift certificate to pick out their own custom frames in their own sizes, and you’re guaranteed to see your gift out on display every time you go over to their home!
