Mother’s day is a tricky holiday. Moms almost always have a key role in our development, and usually engender intense feelings of love or devotion. Then we set aside a special day to honor that relationship, and we want to let them know just how much they mean to us. But nothing seems personal or valuable enough to express just how deep those emotions run.
While we may not have something that can demonstrate how you feel about your mom, we can help you get closer than you have before. Check out these ideas:
- Give her a real mother’s day card. Nothing can take the place of a handmade card from her kids, but if you’re past the age when construction paper cards are socially acceptable, check out our selection of cards. These aren’t cartoon pictures of moms making jokes about wine or sappy pictures of roses. These cards are artist made and designed and are three dimensional works of art in their own right. If you haven’t seen them for yourself, you owe it to your mom to come in to the shop and take a look.
- Frame up a favorite picture. Every mother has a few favorite pictures. Of course we can always give any picture a great custom frame job, but we also have a hand-picked selection of pre-made frames. If you bring us in a picture we can get it matted and mounted in a frame often on the same day.
- Class up a craft idea. Mom’s always love their kids’ crafts, but sometimes just handing them a craft project doesn’t speak quite loudly enough. Pinterest is full of boards with mother’s day ideas. Bring in a finished craft and we can frame it to make it an extra special gift.
- Handmade jewelry. Yes, jewelry is an old gift idea, but there’s a reason it’s a classic. Give it that little extra umph by picking up something from our selection made by local artists. We have a number of local jewelry artisans who make beautiful and unique items.
Of course, moms almost universally know how much we love them, and they humbly adore whatever you get them. But that’s all the more reason to make it meaningful.
